So close, but so far

Fermilab announced a few days ago that they haven’t actually found the Higgs boson, the particle that is hypothetised to give objects mass. They had thought they had quite recently, but still no luck. Now the question is “Will they find it before they close in October?”
Or, will CERN’s Large Hadron Collider find it first?
