Animal rights extremists declaring war on health charities

An extremist animal rights group in the UK is urging people to stop donating to several charities because these charities support animal testing. The charities in question are: Cancer Research UK, the British Heart Foundation, the Alzheimer’s Society, and Parkinson’s UK.

All I can say to Animal Aid – partly as the grandson of an Alzheimer’s victim – is this: WHY DON’T YOU VOLUNTEER YOURSELVES FOR THE TESTS!?!?!?!

damn right, these “charities” would need human victims to make their “tests” completely medically viable, otherwise just testing on everything which is non-human (how can you be sure it will work on humans????? close genetic matches is NOT enough…still HUGE margin for error!). Anyway, let me tell you Phil, these “charities” are not choosing the most efficient way to test (they’re choosing an easily available messy way to test which DOES NOT FIT into modern society this barbarism, good on Animal Aid for pointing that out!),nowadays simple tissue-tests cultivated in-vitro CAN replace full animal tests…but who goes to the bother, surely not these valiant heroic but money-conservative “charities”!!!!! Heroic to people…nothing more

As I understand it, most of the researchers who do use animals try to minimise it where possible. Also, aren’t a lot of vetinary advances discovered and developed this way?

EDIT: of course, human guinea pigs make the most sense from a purely medical point of view. However, I still don’t see anyone who’s against this research volunteering for it.
