Oxygen spotted in space

The diatomic oxygen molecule we breathe, O2, has been found in space. It’s the third most abundant element in the universe, after hydrogen and helium (1st and 2nd, respectively), but hasn’t been spotted before.

Now, the main question is “why is it here?” I don’t know, and neither do the scientists who spotted it. The Universe still has a lot of mysteries for us to unlock.
